               10 'best' tech workplaces in India

There are certain jobs – or rather companies – that hold a lot of aspirational value for those seeking employment. A certain halo is built around them for their work culture, ethics or cool perks. Wonder which are the companies that are most in-demand in India? Then look no more. Social media platform for professionals, LinkedIn has released its list of 'Top Companies Where India Wants To Work Now.

According to LinkedIn, the list is based on actions of 546+ million members globally on aspects such as -- interest in the company, engagement with the company’s employees, job demand and employee retention.

Note: This list excludes LinkedIn and its parent-company Microsoft.


1. Directi
Global headcount: 1,500 (approximate)

The IT products and services company Directi (pronounced direct-eye) tops the LinkedIn's 'top companies to work for in India' year 2018 list. The company is reportedly known for its unusual hiring process which includes "case studies, tasks like app development and solving the Rubik’s cube." The company is also said to give Amazon Kindle all new joinees.



2. Flipkart


Global headcount: 8,000

This domestic e-commerce major is the second most sought out company in India. After being recruited, new Flipkart joinees, called 'Flipsters' reportedly indulge in a treasure hunt for exploring the office.


3. One97 Communications(Paytm)



Global headcount: 17,000

The demonetization of the Indian currency in 2017 was a major push for the success of Paytm and there is no looking back for the company since then. Besides the annual bonus, the company also gives its top performers stock plans, courtesy which 20 of the employees recently became dollar millionaires.

4. Amazon


Global headcount: 566,000

With the richest man on the earth as their CEO, Amazon is the fourth company in the list where Indians want to work. The company has a policy called Amazon’s Ramp Back programme to allow new parents eight weeks of flexibility and partial work hours. The Seattle-based e-commerce major also offers six weeks’ paid leave to a partner who isn’t eligible for parental leave at their employers.

5. Alphabet(Google's Parent Company)


Global headcount: 80,110

Known for offering crazy perks to its employees, Google's parent company Alphabet is on the seventh-spot on this list. Onsite doctors, dentists, hairdressers, sleeping beds, gourmet meals and fitness facilities are just some of the perks that employees get.

6.Oyo


Global headcount: 2,700

Budget hotel aggregator OYO lets its employees design their office, according to the LinkedIn report. The company gives its employees an option to give ideas for designing its five-floor, giving them the opportunity to shape their office, the way they want.


7. Adobe



Global headcount: 18,000

American multinational computer software company Adobe is also known for giving its employees plenteous leaves such as a 26-week maternity, 16-week parental leave and 20 days of bereavement leave, all fully paid.


8. Expedia



Global headcount: Over 20,000

Online travel company Expedia has ranked 13th on the list of LinkedIn’s Top Companies. For its annual appraisals, Expedia has scrapped performance ratings to focus on providing employees with ongoing feedback.


9. Ola



Global headcount: 6,000

The 8-year-old cab-aggregator company reportedly offers multiple clubs to its employees. Ranging from music to sports, these clubs enable employees to mingle with other co-workers of different teams but similar interests.


10. Make My Trip




Global headcount: 3,200

After its merger with rival Ibibo in 2016, MakeMyTrip has become India's largest online travel agency. The company is said to enhance the skills of its employees with a bunch of free courses for its employees such as customised behavioural programmes to study tours to Europe and Southeast Asia.
